Reverend Doherty Fuel Fund

This heating assistance program for low income households is designed to help families pay their heating bills. The program is now accepting applications and they are available to eligible low-income households in the Borough of Honesdale.

The Reverend Doherty Committee members want to emphasize that funds are available to families that have not received funds two (2) times or more within the past two (2) calendar years (i.e. 2019 & 2021). A household may qualify for assistance if the gross income for all household members does not exceed the limits in our guidelines below.

Applicants must provide the following information to document eligibility for the program: proof of gross income for all household members for the 30-day income period beginning with the date of application; and a complete and current copy of the gas, coal or oil bill or, if alternate fuels are being used, a statement from the fuel supplier(s). If additional information is needed, the household has 15 days or until the application deadline (whichever comes sooner) to provide the necessary documentation.

Prospective applicants may call Honesdale Borough at (570) 253-0731 ext. 12 or email revdfund@gmail.com to obtain a full list of eligibility requirements, request an application, or ask further questions. Printed applications can also be picked up at Borough Hall (9 A.M. – 3 P.M., Mon – Fri) or click the link below to print out the application. Upon completion the application can be emailed to revdfund@gmail.com, mailed to Borough of Honesdale, Reverend Doherty Fuel Fund, 958 Main Street Honesdale, PA 18431 or dropped off between 9 A.M. and 3 P.M., Monday through Friday.
